The last time we went to Discovery Park of America, we had a blast! My only complaint is that we did not have enough time to see everything, because my family had to leave early. This time, we will be there until they kick us out of the park. The special exhibit this time around is “Bodies Revealed,” which is true to its title.
“Look deep inside the systems of the human body: skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine and circulatory. Come explore, experience and celebrate the wonder of the human form at Bodies Revealed.” ~ Bodies Revealed
There are more than 200 actual human bodies and specimens included in this exhibit, so you will see just about anything and everything that is somewhere inside of your body. That is either a “wow, way cool” or an “eew, yucky, yucky, gross, gross!”
Of course, the special exhibit is not all there is to see at DPA. There are a number of permanent exhibits that include Children’s Exploration, Energy, Enlightenment, Military, Native Americans, Natural History, Regional History, Science, Space & Technology, Transportation and Traveling Exhibit. Outside you will see exhibits that include The Settlement, The Barn, Mill Ridge, Freedom Square, The Chapel and The Depot. The Special Attractions include the Earthquake Simulator, Starship Theater and The Tower. Whew! That is a lot to see and do, so join us.
Event: Discovery Park of America (DPA) Featuring “Bodies Revealed”
Venue: Discovery Park of America, 830 Everett Boulevard, Union City, 38261
Suggested age: third grade through adult. Although educational, the “Bodies Revealed” exhibit is extremely graphic and may be too intense for some children. The field trip age is just a suggestion. Please watch the video above to help you determine whether the exhibit is appropriate for your child. There are plenty of other activities besides the featured exhibit to enjoy, so you still may make plans to attend the field trip.
