The Society of Women Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers will present a chemical engineering workshop for middle and high school students on Saturday, April 29, on the Christian Brothers University (CBU) campus in Memphis. The workshops are free and for girls and boys who have an interest in engineering or may just be curious about the professional field in that area. Although the focus will be on chemical engineering, if your child is interested in engineering, it will be a good learning experience. CBU has a competitive engineering school.
Students will learn about:
What is a chemical engineer and what they do?
CBU’s Chemical Engineering program
Packaging and Chemical Engineering
Activities:
Perform awesome lab experiments and learn real world applications.
Learn to make ice cream using liquid nitrogen and make bouncy balls.
Compete in an Egg Drop competition.
A tour of Benilde labs.
There will be two meeting times for students:
Middle School, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
High School, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
You may register online. Parents are welcome to stay. E-mail Katherine Garcia or Stephanie Gallela for more information.
