Amazing is one simple word to describe author, lecturer and political activist Helen Keller; not to mention Helen was the first blind and deaf person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. Ivy Green is Helen’s birthplace and where many of the stories, like the notable one of Helen at the fountain, you read about her life took place. The day will be an educational experience and will bring to life the woman who conquered many challenges.
Note: Helen Keller was a member of “the Socialist Party of America and the Industrial Workers of the World. She also campaigned for women’s suffrage, labor rights, socialism and other similar causes.”

Schedule: Meet at Ivy Green at 10 a.m. We will eat lunch between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Spring Park and stop at The Palace Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop before heading home. The only time that is set to a schedule is the 10:30 a.m. start at Ivy Green. You may stay as long at all of the locations, skip the park or the ice cream parlor or both, if preferred. The last time we went, we had a lot of fun at Spring Park and The Palace was such a treat (I know!) in its offerings as well as in its interior design.
Reservation deadline: Reservations will be accepted through Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Once the spaces fill, reservations will close. To make a reservation, click here to e-mail Homeschool Roster your request. Please include the number of children and adults that will be attending.
