The story of Helen Keller continues to inspire me. Amazing is one simple word to describe Helen who was an author, lecturer and political activist. She was also the first blind and deaf person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. We had a chance to again visit her homestead, Ivy Green, earlier this school year on a Homeschool Roster field trip. The Miracle Worker is not only the story about Helen, but that of Anne Sullivan whom her parents hired to serve as Helen’s governess and teacher. See the story in Helen Keller’s autobiography The Story of My Life come to life on the stage.

Event: The Miracle Worker
Venue: Fair Theater, 112 East Market Street, Somerville 38068

Suggested age: This performance is suitable for second grade through adult, but the Fair Theater only presents family-friendly theatre. If your child can sit through a play, bring them along.

Homeschool Roster does not have a field trip scheduled for any of the evening performances. Call or text (256) 710-3420 for more information and to purchase tickets for the evening shows. Tickets are $10.

Other musicals I enjoy.
