DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nThere is no better way to kick off the new school year than with a pool party. Homeschool Roster is returning to Thornton’s Pool for our annual Back-to-Homeschool Splash. We want to have some fun and celebrate the beginning of a new school year. We think Thornton’s Pool is the place to do it. If you have ever had the opportunity to swim\, jump from the rope swing\, hold your position on the balance deck\, or hang out on the rocks (and that isn’t everything)\, we think you will agree.\n\nThornton’s has a larger pool area (main pool) and a smaller wading pool for little children to use. The larger pool starts at about four feet shallow. There are plenty of lounge chairs (under a covered area or out under the sun) for parents (and grandparents) who may not want to swim or prefer to watch. \n  \nTHERE WILL BE NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY! \n  \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \nATTIRE\nSwimsuits should be trunks for boys and men and one piece or modest two piece swim suits for girls and women. T-shirts may also be worn with trunks (for boys and men) or with the one or modest two piece swim suits (for girls and women). \nNOTES\nThornton’s Pool is a private residence. There will be pets (ex: dogs – roaming\, and llamas and groundhogs contained) on property on the day of the event. If you have children (or you) who are afraid of animals\, please keep that in mind before registering to attend. This is a rain or shine event. Cancelation will only be due to lightning. \nDATES & TIMES\nFriday\, July 31\, 2026\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.\nFriday\, August 14\, 2026\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (registration opens July 17 at 8 a.m.) \nLOCATION\nThornton’s Pool – Covington \nPRICE\nAdmission is $13.50 each for children (three and older) and adults\, and children two and younger are free. Although children two and younger are free\, they need at least one parent/guardian in the water with them even if the child is only using the wading pool. \n(DO NOT SEND FUNDS UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM HOMESCHOOL ROSTER STATING YOUR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED) \nPARKING\nThere is limited parking. One parking space will be allotted for each family registration. All families are advised to register their own and not combine registrations with another family\, because only one parking space will be available reserved per registration. \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE\nRegistration will remain open through Thursday\, July 23\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST or until spaces fill. Funds must be received by Thursday\, July 16\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST to be included with the group. \nPERMISSION SLIP AND WAIVER & RELEASE FORM\nEvery adult attending (swimming or not) must sign a permission slip/waiver release form. On the form\, you are to include all of your children (swimming or not) who will attend the field trip. If a child is attending with another family\, that child requires a permission slip/waiver release form signed by their parent/legal guardian (and not the adult bringing them). The form will be e-mailed to you once your reservation is confirmed. You may bring the signed form. SUMMARY:FIELD TRIP: Tennessee Safari Park
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nLions and tigers and bears\, oh my . . . well\, maybe not\, but Miniature Zebu\, Scarlet Macaw and White Bearded Wildebeast. Regardless\, it’s a safari out there and we will be right there in the midst of it all. After living in Tennessee as long as I have\, it has taken me this long to finally visit the Tennessee Safari Park. If you join us\, you will get to go on a guided safari bus ride through the park\, feed the animals and walk through another park area to see even more zoo animals. After the bus ride\, you may drive your vehicle through to see additional tour area where more safari animals live. It’s wild\, I know.\n\nA neat bit of history: The Tennessee Safari Park is located on a century farm owned by the Conley Family since 1858\, called Hillcrest.\nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \n\n\nDATES & TIMES\nFriday\, September 25\, 2026\, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nLOCATION\nTennessee Safari Park – 618 Conley Road\, Alamo\, 38001 \nPRICE\nAdult (parent/teacher) – $0 – One parent/teacher is permitted to accompany their child(ren) at no charge. Any additional adult must pay the full price.\nAdult – $16\nStudent – $12\nChild – $12 (age two through high school) \nFood Buckets – $3 each (food will be provided on the bus\, but you may purchase more to use on the bus in case it runs out for the group or for after the tour bus\, if you drive through in your vehicle) \n  \nNOTES\nFood buckets are provided on the tour bus. If you plan to drive through in your vehicle after the tour\, you may want to purchase a food bucket. \nPARKING\nParking is free at the Tennessee Safari Park. \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE\nRegistration will remain open through Thursday\, September 10\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST or until spaces fill.
