DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nI am absolutely totally excited about this tour. We are headed to Middleton\, Tennessee to learn its history through mural form. The tour will include a stop at J.P. Shelly & Sons\, a staple in the City for more than 100 years. We will learn its impact on a community as a one-stop location for all mercantile needs. We will move to the Middleton mural for a presentation by muralist\, who will share the vision behind the mural and the process she followed to bring the history to life with the stroke of her paint brush. The tour will continue to the Green Frog\, which is in a building that formally was the City police station\, depot\, and inn. The experience will be a wonderful history lesson. \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is second grade through high school students\, and adults. \nDATE & TIME\nThursday\, September 11\, 2025\, at 12 p.m. \nLOCATION\nMiddleton \nPRICE\nAdult – $0\nStudent – $0\nChild – $0 \nNOTES\nPlease only register for your family; do not combine different families on one registration. The Discovering Your Destiny (DYD) experiences were created\, so your teen can plan for their future/life after high school. They will learn about post-secondary opportunities\, careers that are open to them as well as non-traditional paths. \nWe will tour the campus of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT)\, Jackson campus. There are 27 colleges of applied technology in Tennessee where your high school student may choose to attend. Our visit to the Jackson campus will give you an idea of the different certificate programs offered through the schools. There are 16 at the Jackson campus. All TCAT colleges are TN Promise participants\, so this is a great opportunity for your child and you to learn about what the TCAT colleges offer. DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nLions and tigers and bears\, oh my . . . well\, maybe not\, but Miniature Zebu\, Scarlet Macaw and White Bearded Wildebeast. Regardless\, it’s a safari out there and we will be right there in the midst of it all. After living in Tennessee as long as I have\, it has taken me this long to finally visit the Tennessee Safari Park. If you join us\, you will get to go on a guided safari bus ride through the park\, feed the animals and walk through another park area to see even more zoo animals. After the bus ride\, you may drive your vehicle through to see additional tour area where more safari animals live. It’s wild\, I know.\n\nA neat bit of history: The Tennessee Safari Park is located on a century farm owned by the Conley Family since 1858\, called Hillcrest.\nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \n\n\nDATES & TIMES\nFriday\, September 26\, 2025\, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nLOCATION\nTennessee Safari Park – 618 Conley Road\, Alamo\, 38001 \nPRICE\nAdult (parent/teacher) – $0 – One parent/teacher is permitted to accompany their child(ren) at no charge.
