DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nLions and tigers and bears\, oh my . . . well\, maybe not\, but Miniature Zebu\, Scarlet Macaw and White Bearded Wildebeast. Regardless\, it’s a safari out there and we will be right there in the midst of it all. After living in Tennessee as long as I have\, it has taken me this long to finally visit the Tennessee Safari Park. If you join us\, you will get to go on a guided safari bus ride through the park\, feed the animals and walk through another park area to see even more zoo animals. After the bus ride\, you may drive your vehicle through to see additional tour area where more safari animals live. The Discovering Your Destiny (DYD) experiences were created\, so your teen can plan for their future/life after high school. They will learn about post-secondary opportunities\, careers that are open to them as well as non-traditional paths. \nWe will tour the campus of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT)\, Jackson campus. There are 27 colleges of applied technology in Tennessee where your high school student may choose to attend. Our visit to the Jackson campus will give you an idea of the different certificate programs offered through the schools. There are 16 at the Jackson campus. All TCAT colleges are TN Promise participants\, so this is a great opportunity for your child and you to learn about what the TCAT colleges offer. DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nThere is no better way to kick off the new school year than with a pool party. Homeschool Roster is returning to Thornton’s Pool for our annual Back-to-Homeschool Splash. We want to have some fun and celebrate the beginning of a new school year. We think Thornton’s Pool is the place to do it. If you have ever had the opportunity to swim\, jump from the rope swing\, hold your position on the balance deck\, or hang out on the rocks (and that isn’t everything)\, we think you will agree.\n\nThornton’s has a larger pool area (main pool) and a smaller wading pool for little children to use. The larger pool starts at about four feet shallow. There are plenty of lounge chairs (under a covered area or out under the sun) for parents (and grandparents) who may not want to swim or prefer to watch. \n  \nTHERE WILL BE NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY! \n  \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \nATTIRE\nSwimsuits should be trunks for boys and men and one piece or modest two piece swim suits for girls and women. T-shirts may also be worn with trunks (for boys and men) or with the one or modest two piece swim suits (for girls and women). \nNOTES\nThornton’s Pool is a private residence. There will be pets (ex: dogs – roaming\, and llamas and groundhogs contained) on property on the day of the event. If you have children (or you) who are afraid of animals\, please keep that in mind before registering to attend. This is a rain or shine event.
