DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nThere is no better way to kick off the new school year than with a pool party. Homeschool Roster is returning to Thornton’s Pool for our annual Back-to-Homeschool Splash. We want to have some fun and celebrate the beginning of a new school year. We think Thornton’s Pool is the place to do it. If you have ever had the opportunity to swim\, jump from the rope swing\, hold your position on the balance deck\, or hang out on the rocks (and that isn’t everything)\, we think you will agree.\n\nThornton’s has a larger pool area (main pool) and a smaller wading pool for little children to use. The larger pool starts at about four feet shallow. There are plenty of lounge chairs (under a covered area or out under the sun) for parents (and grandparents) who may not want to swim or prefer to watch. \n  \nTHERE WILL BE NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY! \n  \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \nATTIRE\nSwimsuits should be trunks for boys and men and one piece or modest two piece swim suits for girls and women. T-shirts may also be worn with trunks (for boys and men) or with the one or modest two piece swim suits (for girls and women). \nNOTES\nThornton’s Pool is a private residence. There will be pets (ex: dogs – roaming\, and llamas and groundhogs contained) on property on the day of the event. If you have children (or you) who are afraid of animals\, please keep that in mind before registering to attend. This is a rain or shine event. Cancelation will only be due to lightning. \nDATES & TIMES\nFriday\, July 31\, 2026\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.\nFriday\, August 14\, 2026\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (registration opens July 17 at 8 a.m.) \nLOCATION\nThornton’s Pool – Covington \nPRICE\nAdmission is $13.50 each for children (three and older) and adults\, and children two and younger are free. Although children two and younger are free\, they need at least one parent/guardian in the water with them even if the child is only using the wading pool. \n(DO NOT SEND FUNDS UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM HOMESCHOOL ROSTER STATING YOUR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED) \nPARKING\nThere is limited parking. One parking space will be allotted for each family registration. All families are advised to register their own and not combine registrations with another family\, because only one parking space will be available reserved per registration. \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE\nRegistration will remain open through Thursday\, July 23\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST or until spaces fill. Funds must be received by Thursday\, July 16\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST to be included with the group. \nPERMISSION SLIP AND WAIVER & RELEASE FORM\nEvery adult attending (swimming or not) must sign a permission slip/waiver release form. On the form\, you are to include all of your children (swimming or not) who will attend the field trip. If a child is attending with another family\, that child requires a permission slip/waiver release form signed by their parent/legal guardian (and not the adult bringing them). The form will be e-mailed to you once your reservation is confirmed. You may bring the signed form. DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nThere is no better way to kick off the new school year than with a pool party. Homeschool Roster is returning to Thornton’s Pool for our annual Back-to-Homeschool Splash. We want to have some fun and celebrate the beginning of a new school year. We think Thornton’s Pool is the place to do it. If you have ever had the opportunity to swim\, jump from the rope swing\, hold your position on the balance deck\, or hang out on the rocks (and that isn’t everything)\, we think you will agree.\n\nThornton’s has a larger pool area (main pool) and a smaller wading pool for little children to use. The larger pool starts at about four feet shallow. There are plenty of lounge chairs under a covered area or out under the sun. \n  \nTHERE WILL BE NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY! \n  \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is preschool through high school students\, and adults. \nATTIRE\nSwimsuits should be trunks for boys and men and one piece or modest two piece swim suits for girls and women. T-shirts may also be worn with trunks (for boys and men) or with the one or modest two piece swim suits (for girls and women). \nNOTES\nThornton’s Pool is a private residence. All TCAT colleges are TN Promise participants\, so this is a great opportunity for your child and you to learn about what the TCAT colleges offer. If you join us\, you will get to go on a guided safari bus ride through the park\, feed the animals and walk through another park area to see even more zoo animals. After the bus ride\, you may drive your vehicle through to see additional tour area where more safari animals live. SUMMARY:FIELD TRIP: Elmwood Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS\nWe will learn about Elmwood and Memphis history. Buried beneath our trees are people from every walk of life and culture\, famous and infamous\, generals\, mayors\, soldiers and perfectly ordinary citizens. Students will also learn customs from various cultures and funerary symbolism of the Victorian era. \nActivity\nThe tour finishes with monument rubbings that students will make and can take home. \nSUGGESTED AGE/GRADE\nThe suggested age/grade is mid-elementary school through high school students\, and adults. \nDATE & TIME\nFriday\, October 23\, 2026\, at 11 a.m. \nLOCATION\nElmwood Cemetery – Memphis \nPRICE\nAdult – $10\nStudent – $10\nChild – $10 \nNOTES\nPlease only register for your family; do not combine different families on one registration. If your child is attending with another family\, please register your child and add a note in the comments with the name of the family bringing your child. \nPer the venue\, all people participating on the tour must have a purchased ticket. \nPARKING\nParking is free at the Elmwood Cemetery. \nREGISTRATION DEADLINE\nRegistration will remain open through Wednesday\, October 21\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST or until spaces fill. Funds must be received by Wednesday\, October 21\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CST to be included with the group. \n\n\nWAIVER & RELEASE\nRead the field trip waiver and release form. \nPAYMENT OPTIONS\nThere are three payment options. Include your name\, the name associated with the order\, and the order number of the registration in the comments/as a note\, so your funds will be applied properly. \n1) Check written to “Ponomo” and received at Homeschool Roster\, P.O. Box 614\, Bolivar\, Tennessee 38008. \n2) PayPal as “Friends and Family” to Homeschool Roster (homeschoolroster@gmail.com). Funds will be returned if not sent in that manner. \n3) Venmo to Homeschool Roster (@homeschoolroster)\, not a purchase. Funds will be returned if not sent in that manner. \n  \nRefunds will not be issued after Thursday\, October 8\, 2026\, at 12 p.m. CT.
