Homeschool Days at the Memphis Botanic Garden

The Memphis Botanic Garden (MBG) is hosting Homeschool Days in February, March, April, and May just in time to see the beautiful flowers bloom as you stroll through the garden. The programming will be held on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and is geared towards students ages six and older. Each Homeschool Day has a focus and hands-on activities that will keep students engaged.
Eco Trek Part 1: Meadows & Forests – February 10, 2023
Explore the ecology of these special habitats with interactive lessons and activities from a garden trail guide. Participants will become part of the web of life and learn about the cycles of the forest during this fun outdoor adventure.
Egg-stravaganza – March 10, 2023
See what hatches from eggs in spring. Participants will go on a tour through the garden and observe a variety of eggs from insects to birds to amphibians. As a special spring treat, students will color eggs using natural plant dyes and plant a “basket.”
Eco Trek Part 2: Ponds & Wetlands – April 14, 2023
Explore the ecology of these special habitats with interactive lessons and activities from a garden trail guide. Participants will use observation journals during the outdoor trek and examine the parts of a wetland.
World of Plants – May 12, 2023
Take a trip around the world without leaving Memphis! Participants will “travel” to different countries to learn how local cultures use plants in their daily lives and complete hands-on activities to take home.
Homeschool Day admission for students ages six and older is $12 for MBG members and $15 for non-members. Homeschool Days pricing for parent/adult members is free with proof of membership and a non-member parent/adult will pay the garden admission upon entry. Registration is required and classes are held rain or shine. Registration at least one week in advance of the class date is recommended.
