SEE MORE FIELD TRIPS–>October – – – November – – – December

A History of Soap, and the Making of Natural Soap Demonstration*

Learn the history of soap, the process, and see a demonstration of soap being made.

Alice’s Adventures at the Garden*

Your child will grow “curiouser” and “curiouser” as they explore larger than life Mosaiculture characters from the classic story of Alice in Wonderland. Students will “paint the roses red” as they learn about plant adaptations, explore their senses with the Cheshire Cat, and create their own story inspired by Alice herself!

Baking and Building Tour*

We will tour a bakery and a furniture store. Activities include a history lesson, bread making process, and learning about furniture construction.

Broadway Nights**

Broadway Nights is sure to excite anyone who loves Broadway songs. You also do not have to love Broadway or musicals to appreciate the talent in this production. The show is a cabaret style performance of Broadway songs over the years. There are songs from Fiddler on the Roof, Company, Rent, Les Miserable, Hamilton, and more.

Charlotte’s Web*

Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.”

C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa*

We will spend a day of exploration learning about Native American sports and hunting through prehistoric games and hunting techniques with chunky and spear throwing with atlatls. A scavenger hunt, tour of the village site, a trip to the hands-on archaeology lab, and a painting craft.

Fall Fun at Falcon Ridge Farm**

Going to Falcon Ridge Farm is a Homeschool Roster favorite. Each year, our anticipation grows and our experience never disappoints. Along with expected fun during Mr. Ray’s horse demonstration, a pumpkin for all paying children, hayride, “Falcon Ridge Express” trackless train, petting zoo, playground, cornbox and lunch under the picnic pavilion, you can enjoy getting lost in the interactive corn maze. And, that is just some of the fun to be had on the farm.

From Soil to Sprout – An Organic Farm Tour*

Students will learn how to grow food in ways that build community and increase the neighborhood’s access to healthy foods. The goal is to teach students to become healthy eaters, entrepreneurs, and advocates for social and environmental justice. We get to do some taste testing and depending on what is ready to harvest, will make salad to eat.

The Sound of Music**

Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, this play captures a personal tale of growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. The Sound of Music tells the tale of young postulant Maria Rainer, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children, Maria transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy, with laughter, and with music.
