Dressing up in a beautiful dress and looking pretty is fun to do. That is one reason we are looking forward to Homeschool Prom 2019: “Once Upon A Time”. Finding that perfect dress to wear is not always easy, but is possible and may happen at the Formal Dress Sale to benefit the Scarlet Rope Project (SRP).
There will be more than 400 dresses available at the Formal Dress Sale that will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23, at the Jackson Walk Plaza in Jackson, Tennessee. The dresses not only include timeless ones that may be used for prom or other formal events, but also dresses that could be used as theatre costumes for regular or period productions.
“The dresses were donated to the Scarlet Rope Project by the Highlander Boutique, which closed in the late nineties,” said Julanne Stone, Scarlet Rope Project Executive Director. “They are beautiful and Ms. Tennessee quality.”
The Scarlet Rope Project is a faith-based, non-profit that was founded about four years ago. Its mission is “to provide a safe place for healing and restoration to survivors of sex trafficking>“. Since its inception, SRP has served more than 23 women by providing them with housing and programming that equips them with the social and educational tools they need to transition to safe, independent and empowered living.
The Formal Dress Sale will benefit the SRP as well as the people shopping the sale. All dresses are only $20. Cash, check or PayPal will be accepted for all purchases. People may shop the two-day event on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The proceeds from the sale will go towards the services provided for women in SRP,” said Stone. “They will also help with paying for rent and utilities for our house.”
You may support SRP by shopping at the sale and/or take action by donating financially, volunteering, attending a fundraising event and praying.
