LeBonheur Summer VolunTEEN Program Now Accepting Applications

The application for LeBonheur Children’s Hospital Summer VolunTeen Program 2026 is now open for teens ages 16 and 17 years old* who are current high school students, and interested in a career in medicine. The VolunTeen Program allows teens to give back in several ways by helping patients who are being treated at the hospital and their family members.

Volunteer job opportunities include taking several carts around room to room to pass out hot beverages, donuts, toiletries, toys, books, blankets, hats, crafts, etc. to patients and families, interacting with patients/siblings in play/waiting areas, and shadowing/learning about various careers throughout the hospital.

There are four sessions:

  • June 8 – 12, 2026
  • June 22 – 26, 2026
  • July 13 – 17, 2026
  • July 27 – 31, 2026

Eight teens will be accepted for each session that has shifts of 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers must be able to complete the full shifts for the session for which they are accepted.

The application includes the following questions for which responses are required:

  • What is the importance of volunteering in your community?
  • Briefly describe your career goals.
  • Share any past volunteer/inspirational experiences that motivate you to participate in this program.
  • What are you hoping to gain out of the VolunTEEN program?

Students accepted into the program will be required to submit medical records including proof of two (2) MMR vaccinations, two (2) varicella vaccinations, and a Tdap vaccine. A $25 fee for each participant is also required to cover program costs.

Complete the application. The application closes on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3 p.m. CST. Only online applications will be accepted.
