Broadway Themed Prom Takes Center Stage

“A Night on Broadway” – A Homeschool Prom brought teens and parents from the West Tennessee area, and from as far away as Arkansas and Florida, to Bolivar, Tennessee on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Guests walked the red carpet into the Hardeman County Arts Center in anticipation of an event that was specially planned for them to bring a fitting close to the 2023/2024 school year. The annual prom, hosted by Homeschool Roster, was sold out with nearly 150 people in attendance.
The love of theatre, especially Broadway productions, was the inspiration for the prom theme. Some of the favorite Broadway productions that were featured on playbills that lined the walls included Dear Evan Hansen, Disney the Lion King, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Wicked, and The Phantom of the Opera to which guests entered the Arts Center as the theme song from that production played.
Other noted theatrical productions were recognized by beautifully crafted centerpieces that were placed on each table. Anastasia, Beetlejuice, Frozen, Gypsy, Hairspray, Matilda, The Little Mermaid, The Sound of Music, Tina, and more were perfect accents that set the tone for everything theatre.
The Arts Center presents theatrical productions throughout its season and was the perfect location for the Broadway themed prom. The digital marquee in front of the venue displayed “A Night on Broadway” – A Homeschool Prom as the featured production being presented that evening at the Arts Center.
A variety of delicious finger foods were served. Throughout the evening, guests walked onto the stage to have memory pictures taken. They danced to music played by the DJ, who kept prom goers on their feet continuously playing favorite songs.
Homeschool Roster has presented a prom for West Tennessee homeschoolers for several years. In 2023, the prom theme was “A Night Under the Stars” and homeschoolers from across the region again came out in large numbers to attend. Other special events were held In February 2024, the Homeschool Rockin’ Sock Hop, and the annual Homeschool Graduation was in May 2024.
The Homeschool Prom 2025 is scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2025. Be sure to save the date! Tickets will go on sale this fall.
