Makin’ Music Show First Production in Freed-Hardeman’s Dryden Auditorium

Henderson, Tennessee – Freed-Hardeman University’s (FHU) students are preparing to light up the stage with Makin’ Music 2025, “Rhythm in Our Roots,” which will be the first production performed in the Dryden Auditorium (formerly the Loyd Auditorium) since its recent renovation. The auditorium’s comprehensive redesign includes new seating and significant improvements to the stage, sound and lighting to enhance audience members’ comfort and experience. Homeschool Roster families will have the opportunity to see a special presentation of Makin’ Music on Thursday, April 11, 2025, and be among some of the first people to experience a production in the Dryden Auditorium.
“Makin’ Music is such a special tradition that brings our FHU family together for a weekend of creativity, connection and fun,” FHU President David R. Shannon said. “‘Rhythm in Our Roots’ is the perfect way to celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re headed. We can’t wait to see our students light up the new Dryden Auditorium stage and share this experience with alumni and friends.”
The beloved musical event will feature six student hosts and hostesses, the Makin’ Music Showband, two engaging emcees and original productions from five campus social clubs—Chi Beta Chi, Omega Chi, Phi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Rho, and Xi Chi Delta. Ashlyn Chandler, a home school graduate and senior public relations and theatre major from Panama City, Florida, is one of the six hostesses.
Prospective FHU students can return to the campus on Friday, April 11, 2025, to attend Maroon & Gold Day and experience campus life. This event offers high school students and their parents, as well as college or university students who are considering a transfer, an opportunity to tour the campus, meet current students and faculty/staff, and have their questions answered about campus life. Maroon & Gold Day is free, and you may register now to attend. Group campus tours for interested students will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson and Memphis, FHU offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees.
