Solar Eclipse Watch Parties Across West Tennessee to Enjoy with Family

On Monday, April 8, 2024, people will be staring into the sky hoping to get a full view of the solar eclipse as it passes. The path of the eclipse is expected to cross the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Vermont, starting in Mexico and finishing in Canada. Although all of Tennessee will not have a total solar eclipse, people will still get a partial view and be able to take in the experience.

See how the solar eclipse will look where you live: What can I see from home?

If you are not able to travel and want to experience the event with other solar eclipse watchers, the following is a list of some places across West Tennessee (and a few in surrounding areas) where you can gather with others and gaze into the sky. Be sure to wear safe, protective glasses for the experience. A few tips:

  • Do not look directly at the sun.
  • Sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection.
  • Only look at the sun through an approved solar filter.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Totality is the ONLY TIME when it is safe to view the sun without protective eyewear like certified solar eclipse glasses. You should protect your eyes during the entire partial phase of the eclipse, no matter where you are.

NASA will livestream the solar eclipse: Watch NASA livestream
