Hardeman County Kids and Teens Activities & Events: July 2026

JULY EVENTS
July 7 – The 2026 Hardeman County Tomato Contest will be held for you to submit your biggest or most unusual shaped tomato, or your best tomato dish. Entry is free and the contest is open to youth and adults.
July 14-17 – Camp Bolivar for Middle school students get hands-on learning in a variety of career fields during the one week Camp Bolivar Day Camp. Register now to attend
July 25 – Brown Behavioral Health Services is holding a Rural Community Health Fair + Back to School Event { 211 North Washington Street, Bolivar, 38008 }, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call (731) 228-9068 to learn more. This is a free event.

JULY 4: CELEBRATING 250 YEARS!
July 3 – Grand Junction Community Picnic & Fireworks Celebration will be held at the Grand Junction City Park { Walnut Street, Grand Junction, 38039 } at 5 p.m. There will be fellowship, food, family fun, and a barbecue contest. The evening will end with a fireworks show.
July 3-4 – Hornsby Baptist Church { 115 Fulghum Street, Hornsby, 38044 } is holding a two-day Fourth of July Celebration with hamburgers, hot dogs, and fireworks on Friday at 6 p.m. and a Bar-B-Que Lunch with all the fixings on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
July 3 – Red, White, and Bolivar Independence Day Celebration at Sand Beach Lake { 575 East Market Street, Bolivar, 38008 } from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Bolivar’s Kyndle Wylde is the featured performer. This is a free event.

FREE SUMMER MEALS PROGRAMS
The Lee Ola Roberts Library { 140 West Main Street, Whiteville, 38075 } is serving free lunches Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children through the age of 18. Meals must be eaten on site.
Southwest Human Resource Agency delivers free summer meals in Hardeman County: Monday – Hardeman County AgriBusiness Center { 210 Vildo Road, Bolivar, 38008 } from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; John Wilder Community Center { 122 Tippah Street, Grand Junction, 38039 } from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and Middleton Community Center { 400 South main Street, Middleton, 38052 } from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.; and Friday – Whiteville Elementary School { 2510 US-64, Whiteville, 38075 } from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Somerville Church of Christ { 15925 US 64, Somerville, 38068 } from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Visit the website to learn more and get on the schedule.
The Memphis & Shelby County Lead Safe Collaborative Community Outreach is distributing free summer meals (seven days of lunches) on Mondays – Family Dollar/Dollar Tree #1 { 17575 US Highway 64, Somerville, 38068 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Family Dollar/Dollar Tree #2 { 2068 US Highway 64, Whiteville, 38075 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., and Big Lake Grill ( 433 East Market Street, Bolivar, 38008 } from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is for children up to 18 years old. LUEZ THEATER
July 3 – 4 The Luez Theater { 219 North Main Street, Bolivar, 38008 } has weekend movie features. This week, Minions & Monsters (PG) will show Friday (7/3 and 7/10) at 7 p.m., Saturday (7/4 and 7/11) at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

SCHOOL
Now – Head Start has open 2026/2027 registration for free pre-school program for three and four year old children. Call (731) 435-0600 or (731) 983-3731 or visit the website for more information. The opportunity is available in Hardeman, Chester, Decatur, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, and McNairy Counties.
Now-November 1 – The Tennessee Promise application for the Class of 2027 is now open.
June 30 – Attendance forms are due from Independent Homeschoolers for the 2025/2026 school year.
July 1-August 3 – Notice of Intent to Home School forms are due from Independent Homeschoolers. Last day to submit the form is Monday, August 3, 2026.
July 14 – Hardeman County Schools board meeting will be held at the Board of Education office { 10815 Old Highway 64, Bolivar, 38008 } at 5:30 p.m.
August 1 – Class of 2026 using the Tennessee Promise scholarship must submit a minimum of 16 community service hours to remain Tennessee Promise eligible. Class of 2027 students may complete community service hours now to meet the 2027 requirement.

SPORTS
Now–August 3 – Bolivar Summer Tennis League 2026 { BCHS tennis courts } for players ages 14 and older will be held on Monday nights at 7 p.m. fee is $15. Call or text your name, age, and telephone number to Coach Stephen Wood at (731) 609-6693 or Coach Ian Wellons at (731) 609-3583.
Now-July 31 – Hatchie River Area Youth Soccer (HRAYS) fall 2026 season registration is open. Registration is open to all players (potty trained through high school) from all areas.
July 6 – Bolivar Middle School (BMS) Tigers football tryouts will be held at the school at 5:30 p.m. Tryouts are open to students enrolled at BMS, Hornsby Elementary School, Toone Elementary School, Whiteville Elementary School, and homeschool.
7/13-8/28 – City of Bolivar Parks and Recreation Youth Co-Ed Soccer league registration opens at the Bolivar Municipal Center { 211 North Washington Street, Bolivar, 38008 } from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call (731) 658-7529 for more information.
July 31 – Hatchie River Area Youth Soccer Fun Day will be held at the Middleton Soccer fields at 6:30 p.m. This is a free event.

VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY SERVICE
There are several places throughout Hardeman County for teens to volunteer. Some include the public libraries, Hardeman Adoptable Animals, City of Bolivar Community Garden, the Hardeman County Arts Center, and more. Reach out and find somewhere to volunteer.

MUSEUMS AND PARKS
There are several parks in the county for children and teens to get outdoors and enjoy play equipment, sports, walking trails, etc. Hardeman County also has some museum with rich county history.
