Events for Tennessee Homeschoolers (May 11 – 17)

FIELD TRIPS

The last event for the 2025/2026 school year is the West Tennessee Homeschool Graduation, which will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026. We held our last field trip for the school year on Friday to The Little Mermaid and hope you enjoyed it. Homeschool Roster will offer a few field trips throughout summer, so be sure to Join the Homeschool Roster – Get Out of the House group to not miss any updates.

The 2026/2027 field trip season is in the works and we would love for you to help us plan it. Take a short survey and share your thoughts. The new field trip season opens Wednesday, July 1, 2026!

MONDAY, May 11, 2026
Show your Tennessee State issued I.D. and get free admission at the National Civil Rights Museum from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

TUESDAY, May 12, 2026
Tennessee Tuesday
 free admission at the Memphis Zoo from 9 am. to 6 p.m. (close of gates). Advanced reservations are required for all guests.

Gaze into the stars for “From the Earth to the Universe”, a free planetarium show at the University of Lambuth M.D. Anderson Planetarium { 299 Maple Street, Jackson, 38301 } at 5:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, May 13, 2026
The Mid-South Ice House { 10705 Ridgeway Industrial Drive, Olive Branch, Mississippi, 38654 } is offering discounted admission for Homeschool Skating from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

It’s Homeschool Day at SOAR Adventure Tower ( 3794 Carothers Parkway, Franklin, 37067 } from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Homeschool Days at Davies Manor { 3570 Davieshire Drive, Bartlett, 38133 } from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The themed presentations include:

  • Betsy Ross Reality vs. Mythology
  • Meaning & Symbolism in Different Flags 0 Unusual Flag Uses
  • Going Medieval with It: The Origin of Flags in Knights Banners

Admission to Davies Manor is $8.50 for parent and child, and $5 for each additional child who is five and older. Prior registration is requested, so they know you’re attending and can plan for your family.

The Brown Bag Homeschool Hangout will be held at the Jackson-Madison County Library { 433 E Lafayette St, Jackson, 38301 } from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for children ages 11 – 19. Come out and enjoy games, crafts, puzzles, socialize. You can even bring your schoolwork.

THURSDAY, May 14, 2026
The Metal Museum { 374 Metal Museum Drive, Memphis, 38106 } offers free admission to Tennessee residents with a Tennessee state issued photo ID for visitors 18 years of age or older. Visitors under the age of 17 without a state issued photo ID must be accompanied by a current Tennessee resident with a valid photo ID.

West Tennessee Homeschool Graduation
will beheld at the Hardeman County Arts Center ( 1580 West Market Street, Bolivar 38008 } at 11 a.m.

National Civil Rights Museum opens.

Tennessee Wings Museum opens.

Hattiloo Theatre is holding auditions for Elf The Musical Jr. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required.

The Jackson Rockabillys { 4 Fun Place, Jackson 38305 } presents Free Movie Night at the Ballpark will be held at 8 p.m. The featured movie is Sandlot. Gates open at 7 p.m. Seating is in the outfield or stands. You may bring a blanket or chair for comfort and purchase food and drinks from the concession stand.
