Tennessee Promise Community Service Hours Deadline Approaching
Saturday, August 1, 2026, is the deadline for Tennessee Promise students to submit community service hours for the 2026/2027 school year. Completing community service hours is a requirement to remain eligible for the last dollar scholarship. Failure to meet the deadline could result in the student losing the scholarship.
Community service hours are defined as activities, which benefit the community as a whole. Activities completed for individuals and proselytizing are not eligible to be used to satisfy the requirement. Information students typically need to complete the community service hours form are the following:
- Student name
- Organization where the student volunteered
- Contact person – Name, telephone number, and email address
- Total hours completed
- Date(s) the community service hours were completed
- A brief description of what the student did while serving
Tennessee Promise students need to complete a total of 32 hours to maintain their eligibility for the scholarship. Community service hours may be completed as early as a student’s junior year in high school. Tennessee students are served either by the Ayers Foundation Trust or tnAchieves. It is through their student portal with the assigned organization they will submit their community service hours. Students served by tnAchieves are able to complete some of those hours virtually.
A tip for students when completing community service is once the community service hours are completed, students should enter their hours immediately through their student portal. The Ayers Foundation Trust and tnAchieves keeps track of the hours once they are submitted.
The Tennessee Promise application for the Class of 2027 is now open. Those students may also start completing their required community service hours.
