Beauty was Setting for An Enchanted Forest 2025 Prom {video}

“An Enchancted Forest” – A Homeschool Prom was the theme for the 2025 prom hosted by Homeschool Roster, which was held at Robin’s Nest Event Venue in Toone, Tennessee on Friday, May 9, 2025. The guest list included more than 200 home school teens and parents, who enjoyed an evening in a beautifully decorated setting to match the prom theme. The Homeschool Roster prom attracts middle school and high school students from West Tennessee and its surrounding regions, and even as far as Arkansas and Florida.

Each year, great attention is given to choosing a theme, creating an atmosphere reflective of that vision, and bringing it to life. Decorations throughout the venue highlighted the “An Enchanted Forest theme. Forest trees were the backdrop for the photo area and mini trees and craft-filled vases were centerpieces on the tables, which included table runners in the signature prom pink color. In 2024, the prom theme was “A Night on Broadway” and the Hardeman County Arts Center in Bolivar was the perfect setting for the theatre focused event. Special attention was given to the decorations and centerpieces for that evening.

Jennifer Smeltser, of Homeschool Roster, who has hosted prom for several years, loves food and especially desserts. She always goes all out with the food (sometimes more than she should) to ensure the teens have a full and special evening. The teens enjoyed a loaded charcuterie board filled with a variety of choices and a dessert bar filled with several desserts from which to choose. For the adults, a Parents Parlor was set up, which included a salad bar and desserts.

“So many of the teens (and their parents) have shared with me they have a good time every year. Several of the guests have attended all the Homeschool Roster proms, which have been held over the years,” said Ms. Smeltser. “Homeschoolers know how to do prom, and I am happy to be able to make this evening happen for these teens. I want the teens to have a memorable evening.”

A must have at any prom is good music, and that is what all the Homeschool Roster proms have every year. As always, D.J. Qunitin’s music selection was just right and kept the dance floor hopping throughout the evening.

“I first make sure D.J. Qunitin is available, and then I choose the prom date around his availability,” said Ms. Smeltser.

A lot of helping hands are behind making the night special for the teens. They include some home school parents and others who just want to help.

“I believe the prom this year was one of the best ones Homeschool Roster has hosted. A big task is ahead for outdoing ourselves next year,” said Ms. Smeltser, who gets real joy out of the excitement she sees in the eyes of the teens, who attend the prom. “It is a lot of work putting together a prom, but making prom possible for these home school students is worth the effort, and I enjoy every minute of it!”

Ms. Smeltser is already working on the theme for the next prom, which will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Learn more about the Homeschool Prom 2026.
