Roane State to host cybersecurity camps at three additional campuses this summer
Roane State Community College will host cybersecurity camps for high school aged students in Anderson, Campbell, and Scott counties this summer. Registration is open now and there is no cost to attend.
The camps are designed as serious courses for rising ninth through twelfth grade students who are interested in cybersecurity and computer science. Areas of study will include network visualization, mapping, and simulation as well as digital forensics, risk assessment, and more.
Registration is available online at roanestate.edu/personaldevelopment under the “Computer and Software Training” section. Participating students must live within Anderson, Campbell, or Scott counties. Camp dates, times, and locations are as follows:
- July 8-11, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET, Anderson County Higher Education Center (Clinton)
- July 15-18, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET, Campbell County campus (LaFollette)
- July 22-25, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET, Scott County campus (Huntsville)
The Anderson County Higher Education Center is located at 220 Frank L. Diggs Drive in Clinton, the Campbell County campus is located at 201 Independence Lane in LaFollette, and the Scott County campus is located at 410 W.H. Swain Boulevard in Huntsville. Dr. George Meghabghab, Roane State’s Computer Information Technology program director, will lead all three camps, which are made possible through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The ARC sponsorship covers the cost of registration for each student so they can participate for free. A camp t-shirt will also be provided.
Roane State has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education for the Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Technology, Cyber Defense concentration. Learn more about this program at roanestate.edu/cyberdefense.
