TCAP Family Portal Now Open for the New School Year
The family portal for the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program, well known as TCAP, is now open for the new school year. The TCAP is taken each year by students in public school and by independent homeschool students in selective school years, which are the fifth, seventh, and ninth grades. The exam program, which gauges student understanding of academic standards and assesses academic growth, was first used almost 40 years ago. The TCAP assists in providing a guide for schools and districts regarding academic accountability for the performance of its students.
Through the TCAP Family Portal parents may:
- Identify their student’s strengths and ways they can support their learning efforts
- Connect with educators about the academic progress of their student.
- Track their student’s progress
The Family Portal also gives parents access to TCAP resources, which can be used to prepare their student for the upcoming assessment. The TCAP is usually given in the spring of each school year. Some students may take End-of-Course testing during the fall semester. You may see the 2026/2027 TCAP testing schedule.
If your student is registered as an independent homeschooler, contact the Local Education Agency (LEA) in your school district to learn the steps to take to register your child for the TCAP.
