If you have not already heard of rising country music singer Lakelin Lemmings (where have you been?), you will have the chance to see her live and in person as a performer for the 2026 Hardeman County Music on the Square series. Lakelin, a homeschool graduate, and her band will take Court House Square in Bolivar on August 7 and October 2, 2026. They will perform some of Lakelin’s signature songs like “Parking Lot”, “Baby Daddy”, and “What Are We Doing”, which have been climbing the country music charts all year.

Music on the Square, a free summer concert series, runs April through October each year. It was started in 2008 by Hardeman Countians Ken Savage and Cissye Pierce, who were actively involved with the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA).

“Music on the Square was an idea to promote an exhibit from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., which was being shown at the Little Court House Museum in Bolivar, “ said Ms. Pierce, who has presented memorable and educational history tours for Homeschool Roster families.

“The APTA sponsored the exhibit called ‘New Harmonies ~ Celebrating America Roots Music,'” said Mr. Savage. “The idea was to have free concerts on the town square every Friday night for one month to promote the exhibit.”

The idea was a success and Music on the Square has been bringing artists like Lakelin to perform free concerts on Court House Square for almost 20 years.

Lakelin Lemmings has been a fixture at Music on the Square for a long time. I knew the first time she and her sister sang that they were good and figured someday music would take her places, if she stayed with it,” said Mr. Savage. “ She has already achieved more than most and only time will tell just how far she will go. We are so proud of her success and glad she still remembers her roots here on the Square.”
