FIELD TRIPS

The 2026/2027 field trip season is in the works and we would love for you to help us plan it. Take a short survey and share your thoughts. The new field trip season kicks off with the annual Homeschool Roster Back-to-Homeschool Splash at Thornton’s Pool. Registration for the new season opens Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Homeschool Roster will offer a few field trips throughout summer, so be sure to Join the Homeschool Roster – Get Out of the House group to not miss any updates. In the meantime, check out these sites across Tennessee for field trip ideas.

MONDAY, June 1, 2026
Chickasaw State Park { 20 Cabin Lane, Henderson, 38340 } is holding a free Lakeshore Hike from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Free Spectacular Skulls program at Chickasaw State Park { 20 Cabin Lane, Henderson, 38340 } from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Free screening of A Grand Design: Captain Le Roy Reeves and the Tennessee State Flag will be presented at the Tennessee State Museum.

Show your Tennessee State issued I.D. and get free admission at the National Civil Rights Museum from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

TUESDAY, June 2, 2026
Tennessee Tuesday free admission at the Memphis Zoo from 9 am. to 6 p.m. (close of gates). Advanced reservations are required for all guests.

Phoenix Theatres Entertainment Free Summer Movie Series begins at theatre in West Tennessee. Featured this week are The Bad Guys and Sing. Learn more about the series and see trailers for the current and upcoming movies.

The Summer Court Shadow Program is being held in general sessions court in Trenton { 295 North College Street, Trenton, 38382 } for high school and college students to gain a real-world look at the legal and criminal justice system beyond what they see on television and social media. Court is in session from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

All About Learning Press is holding a 7 Strategies to Help Your Child Read webinar at 4 p.m. E.T. presented by Katie Waalkes, homeschool expert and creator of Life in the Mundane. Register to attend.

Gaze into the stars for “Out There: The Quest for Extrasolar Worlds”, a free planetarium show at the University of Lambuth M.D. Anderson Planetarium { 299 Maple Street, Jackson, 38301 } at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Shelby County Homeschool Sports (SCHS) is offering volleyball training and open gym for elementary school and middle school from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and for high school from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, June 3, 2026

The Mid-South Ice House { 10705 Ridgeway Industrial Drive, Olive Branch, Mississippi, 38654 } is offering discounted admission for Homeschool Skating from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

It’s Homeschool Day at SOAR Adventure Tower ( 3794 Carothers Parkway, Franklin, 37067 } from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Brown Bag Homeschool Hangout will  be held at the Jackson-Madison County Library { 433 E Lafayette St, Jackson, 38301 } from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for children ages 11 – 19. Come out and enjoy games, crafts, puzzles, socialize. You can even bring your schoolwork.

THURSDAY, June 4, 2026
The Metal Museum { 374 Metal Museum Drive, Memphis, 38106 } offers free admission to Tennessee residents with a Tennessee state issued photo ID for visitors 18 years of age or older. Visitors under the age of 17 without a state issued photo ID must be accompanied by a current Tennessee resident with a valid photo ID.

Chickasaw State Park { 20 Cabin Lane, Henderson, 38340 } is offering Owl Pellet Dissection in the nature center from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Auditions are being held for the touring production of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown by Firefly Creative.

The University of Lambuth M.D. Anderson Planetarium { 299 Maple Street, Jackson, 38301 } holds Summer Friday Afternoons at the Planetarium series with The Cowboy Astronomer at 3:45 p.m.

SATURDAY, June 6, 2026
Early registration deadline for the July 11, 2026, ACT exam. The price increases after this date.

A Babysitting 101 Class is being offered by West Tennessee Healthcare { 637 Skyline Drive, Jackson, 38301 } from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is required.

Tram Tours are being offered at Elmwood Cemetery { 824 South Dudley Street, Memphis, 38104 } from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The West Tennessee Young Aviators will host a meet and greet at the Jackson Regional Airport { 308 Grady Montgomery Drive, Jackson, 38301 } from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
