Memphis Brooks Museum Seeks High School Students for Youth Council

The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art is seeking rising high school sophomores and juniors to participate in its Youth Council, which works behind the scenes sharing its voices and ideas regarding teen programming, exhibit curation, and exploring and learning about the museum’s exhibitions and collections. The Youth Council is student-driven and provides the opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the art world and gain civic and team building skills. Students will also work closely with museum staff members and learn about their careers.
Through the program, the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art hopes to promote more interest in teen participation as well as engaging them in experiences created just for them. Although the program will focus on art, culture, and history, experience in the love of or making art is not required. The hope is to further a student’s love in those areas or introduce students to the possibilities of expression through those areas.
Students will receive stipends for their participation in the Youth Council and may apply for more than one year. The participants in the Youth Council will serve from September to May and attend weekly in person meetings.
The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art Youth Council application will remain open through Sunday, July 5, 2026.
