FIELD TRIPS

The 2026/2027 field trip season is in the works and we would love for you to help us plan it. Take a short survey and share your thoughts. The new field trip season kicks off with the annual Homeschool Roster Back-to-Homeschool Splash at Thornton’s Pool. Registration for the new season opens Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Homeschool Roster will offer a few field trips throughout summer, so be sure to Join the Homeschool Roster – Get Out of the House group to not miss any updates. In the meantime, check out these sites across Tennessee for field trip ideas.

Gateway Christian Schools is having a registration blitz from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on all of its six campuses and offering a new student registration discount for the 2026/2027 school year, through Friday, June 19, 2026.

MONDAY, June 15, 2026
Show your Tennessee State issued I.D. and get free admission at the National Civil Rights Museum from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

TUESDAY, June 16, 2026
Tennessee Tuesday free admission at the Memphis Zoo from 9 am. to 6 p.m. (close of gates). Advanced reservations are required for all guests.

Phoenix Theatres Entertainment Free Summer Movie Series has new movies this week at theaters in West Tennessee. Featured this week are Trolls and The Secret Life of Pets. Learn more about the series and see trailers for the current and upcoming movies.

The Summer Court Shadow Program is being held in general sessions court in Trenton { 295 North College Street, Trenton, 38382 } for high school and college students to gain a real-world look at the legal and criminal justice system beyond what they see on television and social media. Court is in session from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Gaze into the stars for “Astronomy Photographer of the Year”, a free planetarium show at the University of Lambuth M.D. Anderson Planetarium { 299 Maple Street, Jackson, 38301 } at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Shelby County Homeschool Sports (SCHS) is offering volleyball training and open gym for elementary school and middle school from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and for high school from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Metal Museum { 374 Metal Museum Drive, Memphis, 38106 } offers free admission to Tennessee residents with a Tennessee state issued photo ID for visitors 18 years of age or older. Visitors under the age of 17 without a state issued photo ID must be accompanied by a current Tennessee resident with a valid photo ID.

Chickasaw State Park { 20 Cabin Lane, Henderson, 38340 } is offering a free Nature Scavenger Hunt from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
