Presenting 2026 Homeschool Graduate Aiden Wood

Aiden Wood is a HomeLife Academy student and has been homeschooled for 12 years. Although he recognized the importance of school, he describes the experience as being “chill and relaxed.” Aiden took advantage of dual enrollment and will graduate with a high school diploma and trade certification.
He shared what he enjoyed about homeschool, the experiences and memories, some tips, his future plans, and favorite places to visit in West Tennessee.
CHALLENGES: Learning Algebra was hard, but my mom and I figured it all out.
BENEFITS: Sleeping in and not having to wake up early was nice. I was able to participate in a lot of activities and sports, which included two homeschool soccer leagues, HRAYS in Middleton and MHEA in Memphis; 4-H competing in multiple judging competitions and projects; and being a part of my church praise and worship team and other ministries.
With homeschooling, I was able to attend TCAT-Whiteville in the mornings and learn about things that interested me. I finished high school with all A’s and will graduate from the Automotive Technology program as an ASE Certified mechanic. I was able to finish high school and two years of college in the same year.
FAVORITE MEMORY: I enjoyed going to the Memphis Zoo or different playgrounds or skating rinks for a “homeschool field trip” while everyone was else in school.
TIPS FOR STUDENTS: Pay attention and finish your schoolwork!
TIPS FOR PARENTS: Homeschool your kids always, no matter how hard it is.
FUTURE: One of his goals is to make money and have his own business, and he is already on his way as part-owner and operator of a lawn care business with his father. Another business he hopes to start is a mobile mechanic where he can use his certification skills.
Aiden’s West Tennessee Favorites
Favorite place to eat: My favorite place to eat is at Corky’s Ribs and BBQ.
Favorite place to go: I like going to the Bass Pro Shops at the pyramid in Memphis.
Favorite thing to do: I like fishing in the Mississippi and Hatchie rivers.
Congratulations to Aiden, who is a West Tennessee Homeschool Class of 2026 graduate!
