Brooks Museum Fall Homeschool Days

Fall 2025 Dates

The Brooks Museum of Art will hold its Homeschool Days from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month this fall. Docent tours will start at 10:30 a.m. and 11:15. a.m. for a guided tour of the collection, and a drop in art making session in its art studio will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests will have free access after the Homeschool Day activities to explore the museum on their own after 1 p.m.

September 11, 2025 – Color Theory

Take a deep dive into color theory by using coffee filters, water, and markers to mix and break down the colors of the rainbow. Turn green into yellow and blue and back again with this fun morning of experiments! You will come away with a colorful creation and a deeper understanding of color mixing!

October 9, 2025 – Hispanic Heritage Month

Practice the art of hojalata by safely embossing a piece of tin art with dull pencils. You will learn about Mexican folk art imagery and motifs while making a piece of art meaningful to you!

November 13, 2025 – Quilts and & Textiles

Learn about the geometry of quilt patterns by making your own paper quilt squares. Bring the whole family to collaborate on your own mini paper family quilt. Afterwards, join one of our docent-led tours, or go at your own pace, to see our newest exhibition, Of Salt and Spirit: Black Quilters in the American South.
