Free Choreography and Staging Workshop Offered at the Stax Music Academy

Dance professionals Syreeta Dodson and Rodney Woods will hold a free Choreography and Staging Workshop on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 5 p.m. at the Stax Music Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. Students in sixth through twelfth grades will learn movement skills and how to improve their stage presence to use in performance and auditions.


Syreeta Dodson’s dance journey began in 1995, evolving from a competitive dancer to dedicated teacher. Her impressive career spans competitions, TV, and live performances, including roles with The University of Memphis Pom Squad and Memphis Grizzlies Dance Teams. Syreeta has opened for acts like Arnez J. and choreographed for Gangsta Boo and Jessica Ray. As a co-founder of FaceSouth Choreography, she led the team to victory on BET’s “106 & Park” and influenced alma mater Whitehaven High School’s success in national dance competitions.

Memphian Rodney Woods is a professional dancer and choreographer with a passion for entertainment and music. With 19 years of experience in performing and dancing, Rodney has honed expertise in entertaining and showmanship working with Syreeta Dodson, Jessica Ray, Chassity Jade, Nicole Kirkland, Mitchell Kelly, and on pieces for Netflix and Amazon Prime. Currently, Rodney is working with choreographers and creatives in Nashville while continuing his own training.
