Memphis Metro/Shelby County high school students in ninth through twelfth grades are invited to participate in the I AM the Legacy competition that will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this year through the spoken word. Video submissions of original work performed by the students will be accepted for entry in the competition for cash prizes. Three winners will be chosen, and they will be “required to perform on April 4, 2024, at the National Civil Rights Museum’s commemoration, Remembering MLK“. The deadline to enter in the competition has been extended to Friday, March 8, 2024.

The cash prizes are $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place. The winners will be notified by Friday, March 15, 2024.
