Presenting 2025 Homeschool Graduate Kaija Boyd

Kaija Boyd is a HomeLife Academy student and has been homeschooled for two years. Her love of fine arts was woven into her home school studies allowing Kaija to earn academic credit as her creativity flowed.
She shared what she enjoyed about home school and valuable tips for current home school students as they consider their future.
BENEFITS: I enjoyed being able to do my schoolwork at my pace, then moved on to do other things I really enjoyed doing. I was able to make dresses, paint, and make other things for high school credit.
CHALLENGES: I did not really experience any challenges.
FAVORITE MEMORY: A favorite memory was seeing newborn goats whenever I wanted.
TIPS FOR STUDENTS: Pick courses based on what you want to do long term. Use the opportunity while you are in high school and still living at home to figure out your goals. Having goals in mind can be helpful instead of changing majors halfway through when you are paying for those classes.
TIPS FOR PARENTS: Let your child take advantage of dual enrollment programs, which can help provide a good education.
FUTURE: I am planning to get an associate’s degree in Studio Art from Jackson State Community College and get certified to be a middle school or high school art teacher.
Kaija’s West Tennessee Favorites
Favorite place to eat: My favorite place to eat is at Las Jarochitas, a Mexican food truck in Henderson.
Favorite place to go: My favorite place to go is Besso’s Coffee in Henderson.
Favorite thing to do: My favorite thing to do is go to the Memphis Zoo.
Congratulations to Kaija, who is participating in the Homeschool Roster Homeschool Graduation 2025!
