Stay on Track with the Tennessee Promise

If you have a high school senior planning to use the Tennessee Promise scholarship, completing the application is just one step in the eligibility process. The following is a schedule to ensure your student remains eligible for the scholarship. Help your student stay on track by completing the scholarship requirements by the noted deadlines.

Thursday, August 1, 2024
The online Tennessee Promise application opens. Apply now.

Students using the scholarship for the first time for spring 2025 or summer 2025 may begin earning the required eight hours of community service hours for eligibility.

Friday, November 1, 2024
All graduating high school seniors should apply for the Tennessee Promise program by this date.

Students are encouraged to apply to the college(s) of their choice.

Saturday, November 2, 2024
Students using the scholarship for the first time fall 2025 semester may begin earning the required eight hours of community service hours for eligibility.

December 2024 through February 2025
Students must attend a mandatory information meeting.

Sunday, December 1, 2024
The FAFSA application is expected to open around this date.

Sunday, March 15, 2025
Students must have completed the mandatory information meeting requirement.

Tuesday, April 1, 2025
Students using the Tennessee Promise before the fall 2025 term or for summer 2025 while attending a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) school must complete and submit eight community service hours.

Tuesday, April 15, 2025
Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application for the 2025/2026 school year by this date. All students are encouraged to complete this form as soon as possible after the application opens in December 2024, because funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Waiting to file near the deadline could reduce the amount of funding a student receives.

Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Students using the Tennessee Promise for the fall 2025 term must complete and submit eight community service hours.
