Tennessee Tech Hosting ‘Preview Day’ Open House September 27

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech University will host its annual Preview Day open house on Saturday, Sept. 27, welcoming prospective students and their families to campus for a full day of activities designed to showcase life at Tech.

“Preview Day is a one-stop shop for future Golden Eagles to discover what our community is all about,” said Peyton Land, campus visits and events coordinator. “Prospective students will have the chance to meet faculty, tour new campus spaces, get their questions answered and experience our campus hospitality firsthand.”

New this year are special events, including a student jazz performance and an ice cream social on Centennial Plaza. “It’s another way to spotlight the student experience and give visitors a taste of the vibrant campus life Golden Eagles enjoy here at Tech,” Land added.

The free event begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room. Guests can enjoy coffee, music and donuts on Centennial Plaza before the Tennessee Tech Drumline and Spirit Squad kick off the day with a performance at 8:45 a.m.

From 9 a.m. to noon, prospective students and families can explore the Academic Discovery Fair on the main quad, where representatives from all academic departments will be available. Campus tours, including residence halls, classrooms and labs, begin at 9:30 a.m.

Across campus at Lab Science Commons, the Student Organizations and Club Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a free T-shirt giveaway at 12:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy a complimentary lunch at The Caf beginning at 10:30 a.m. or grab a meal from food trucks along Wings Up Way.

Also at 12:30 p.m., guests are invited to an exclusive talk with Tech President Phil Oldham in the atrium of the university’s new state-of-the-art Ashraf Islam Engineering Building.

To round out the day, prospective students and their families are invited to head back to Centennial Plaza at 1:30 p.m. for “Beats & Treats,” an afternoon of ice cream and live music from a Tech student jazz combo.

“Another part of this year’s event that we’re excited about is the ‘application station’ in the Tech Pride Room of the Roaden University Center,” explained Land. “Prospective students can drop by from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and apply for admission to Tech with a waived fee – a $25 savings – and on-site help for anyone requiring assistance.”

Registration for Preview Day is now open. Attendance is free, but students and guests are asked to register in advance at www.tntech.edu/previewday.

Tennessee Tech is ranked as a “Best National University” by U.S. News & World Report and as the number one public university in the state by Money.com. The university offers more than 225 programs of study and Tech grads leave with the least debt of all public universities in the state.
