tnAchieves to Hold FAFSA Assistance Clinics Across Tennessee Before Deadline
tnAchives is hosting clinics across the State of Tennessee to assist students with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The clinics come just in time before the Thursday, August 1, 2024, FAFSA deadline to meet the Tennessee Promise Scholarship requirement, and also for students to learn of other financial aid opportunities available to them for the upcoming and future school years.
The new and improved 2024–2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) (FAFSA) form opened earlier this year in January after a soft launch in December 2023. Although the form included many needed updates, it also brought a lot of problems that caused delays for students applying for college and not being able to make final plans due to the unknown financial assistance they would receive.
“The FAFSA deadline for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship has been extended from May to August 1 due to technological challenges,” said Mr. Ben Sterling, tnAchieves vice president for content and public relations. “Because of that, we have an extended runway to host clinics across the state, giving students a last chance to have a supported opportunity to complete the FAFSA. A majority of students have completed this requirement; however, there are some students who still need to file by the deadline. We are hosting these (clinics) across the state throughout July to ensure students have an opportunity to do that.”
