Memphis Bar Association Summer Law Internship Program for Minority Students

The Memphis Bar Association is offering a Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) for minority rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school as of August 2024. Applicants must be in good standing and a resident of, and attend a high school in Shelby County, Tennessee.

The SLIP program was started in 2007 to “develop and nurture an interest in the legal profession among young people from underrepresented groups”.

Participants in the program intern at law firms, corporate legal departments, or government agencies gaining experience daily occurrences in those workplaces. Interns must be available to work a total of 60 hours during the workday hours in the month of June

Applicants will be judged according to the following criteria:

  • Interest in the law as a future career
  • School and community activities and/or employment history
  • Oral presentation skills (e.g., group interview)
  • Writing skills (e.g., statement of interest)​
