Students Needed to Serve on TSSAA Student Advisory Committee

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) is seeking students and student-athletes to serve on its inaugural Student Advisory Committee (TSAC) for the 2025/2026 school year. Public school, private school, and home school students who are eligible may apply through Tuesday, April 1, 2025, to be a part of TSAC.

The committee will include 20 students with at least six each being from the three regions (East, Middle, West) of the state. The students will be a voice for their peers and student athletes within the TSSAA governance structure and serve for one school year. Although the opportunity is open to all students, this would be a great chance for a homeschooler to be a part of a committee, which has direct contact with the governing body making decisions about their ability to play sports on public school and private school teams.

TSAC will focus on the following areas:

  • Address current issues facing student-athletes.
  • Provide input regarding rules and regulations.
  • Discuss TSSAA special initiatives.
  • Ways to promote positive images of student-athletes and the supporting student body.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Obtain parent approval and signature.
  • Be a junior or senior.
  • Have a strong character and commitment to sportsmanship and integrity.
  • Demonstrate leadership within school.
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater the previous school year.
  • Provide two recommendation letters from an acceptable individual (ex: principal, coach, athletic director, or teacher).

Home school students should indicate they are homeschooled and enter their zoned TSSAA school on the application when they apply.
