Presenting 2025 Homeschool Graduate Susanna Neal
Susanna Neal is a HomeLife Academy student and has been homeschooled since kindergarten. She found her place on the stage where she has thrived as an actor and is looking forward to traveling around the world in the future.
Susanna shared what she liked about home school, the experiences she enjoys in her close relationships with her mother and sisters, and some of her favorite places to visit in West Tennessee.
BENEFITS: I quite enjoyed not being trapped in a school classroom for seven to eight hours a day and having the freedom to learn what I wanted. It gave me the freedom to pursue acting throughout high school, which has given me wonderful and challenging experiences, and amazing memories. I have also been able to have a more flexible work schedule to earn money.
CHALLENGES: My biggest challenge while in high school was probably self-discipline to do the schoolwork. But I managed to get through it.
FAVORITE MEMORY: My favorite memories would have to be the times my mom took my sisters and me to the Children’s Museum, and scouring the Bartlett Library shelves for appealing books. Those were the best days!
FUTURE: I want to see the world, so I plan on going into aviation to become an airline pilot. I can follow my dreams of traveling the world while also earning an income. That is the best way I can think of to do what I want.
Susanna’s West Tennessee Favorites
Favorite place to eat: My favorite place to eat is at Ciao Baby Pizza in Collierville. It has some of the best pizza in West Tennessee. My personal favorite is the Bianca Alfredo. It is cheese and Alfredo sauce and it is amazing!
Favorite place to go: My favorite place to go is to the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis. I don’t get to go there often, but when I do, it is such a wonderful time.
Favorite thing to do: My favorite thing to do is go out for coffee with my mom and sisters at various coffee shops around Memphis and Jackson. Our current favorite haunts are Congregation Coffee in Germantown and the Turntable Coffee Counter in Jackson.
