Memphis Area Classical Conversations Communities Tour Veterinary Clinic

On Thursday, March 2, 2023, three Memphis area Classical Conversations communities toured Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic in Bolivar, Tennessee. Challenge A seventh grade students from the Bartlett East (at Faith Baptist), Bartlett Central (at New Hope Christian Church), and Arlington communities had the opportunity to learn about the facility and do a hands-on activity.

The father-daughter team of Dr. Frank Wilhite and Dr. Whitney Wilhite were on hand to share history about the family-owned business, a day in the life of a veterinarian, and led the students in a cow eyeball dissection. The field trip coincided with the study of anatomy that is the focus for Challenge A students in the spring. It was the first time for some of the students who live in the Memphis area to see an actual veterinary clinic like Old Hatchie.

“I am so thankful we have a community that supports our homeschoolers and takes the time for students outside of our community to visit and learn,” said Classical Conversations mom Kimberly Gist, who is also a Hardeman County resident.
