Homeschool Roster has an exciting November month of field trips planned! Pick and choose where you want to go and what you want to do. Add one or two field trips to your schedule, or add them all! If you are not a Homeschool Roster member, you may use the registration link provided to register for any non-member field trip.

Trader Joe’s Tour {Members}, 11/1
We are touring Trader Joe’s, a national chain of neighborhood grocery stores, that has been transforming grocery shopping into a welcoming journey full of discovery and fun since 1967. We will discover a store full of unique and interesting products, along with everyday basics, in the Trader Joe’s label.

Donut Making {Members}, 11/9
Donuts are fun to eat and even more fun to make. We will tour a donut shop, learn how donuts are made, and make some of our own to take home and eat.

Nut Remix {Members}, 11/17
The Nutcracker story is transplanted to Beale Street and Tchaikovsky is joined by Duke Ellington’s Big Band sounds, Booker T. and The MG’s, live flamenco and more! With a cast of 150, classical ballet meets hip hop, jazz, flamenco, Memphis Jookin – a whole world of dance!

The Struggle is “Read” {Members and Non-members}, 11/18
This workshop discusses reasons behind the struggle of learning to read and overview of areas needed to help to reinforce it.
Embark on a journey with us during the workshop as we unravel techniques, insights, and hands-on strategies to empower your struggling reader. Let’s make learning easy and enjoyable. Join us and make a positive change in your child’s reading progress.

The Wind in the Willows {Members}, 11/21
The famous English gentlemen, Mr. Toad of Toad Hall, sees his first motor car and promptly falls uncontrollably in love with motoring, so he buys a car which he then crashes. Another car is bought, followed by another crash and another—and another! For once at the throttle, Toad in his goggles and duster is a man possessed. Soon he is ruled off the road. Then he steals a car. For this he’s sent to jail for 20 years. While there, he learns that Weasels have taken over his old family home and all his friends have been thrown out. But the jailor’s daughter adores Toad for his charm and dash and she helps him escape. In an exciting climax, Toad, Ratty, Badger and Mole retake Toad Hall by storm.

CPR and AED Training and Certification and First Aid and Narcan Training {Members and Non-members}
The First Aid/CPR/AED classes are being conducted for children through adults. Being First Aid/CPR/AED certified can be helpful for personal education and/or recertification as well as job proficiency – lifeguard (use certification towards requirements), baby sitter, basic job requirement (ex: OSHA), badges (ex: Trail Life, Boy Scouts, Heritage Girls, etc.).

Discovering Your Own Destiny {Members}: Shackelford Funeral Services
The Homeschool Roster Discovering Your Destiny (DYD) field trips were created, so teens can plan for their future/life after high school. They will learn about post-secondary opportunities, careers that are open to them as well as non-traditional paths. This month, we will visit and tour Shackelford Funeral Directors and learn about the mortuary business and careers in that field learning directly from professional morticians.

Library Tour {Members}
We will tour a county library and learn the power of a library card and all of the educational opportunities it opens to us.
